Everything you do online is recorded

When you visit a website the visit is logged in your internet browser history, including the detail of the webpages you clicked on throughout a website.

If someone else has access to your PC, mobile or tablet, it is fairly easy for them to look through your browsing history.

This information may not completely hide your digital footprint. If you need to find support information discreetly, our advice is to do so from a safe place such as a library, a friend a neighbour’s house, or at work.

Securing your email

Help keep your email secure (private) by setting up a password so that anyone who wants to read your emails will have to log-in.

When choosing a password ensure it is one that cannot be easily guessed by someone close to you. For example, avoid passwords such as your child’s name, your pet’s name or your birthday.

Always remember to log out of your email accounts once you have finished and avoid using ‘Keep me logged in’ and ‘Save my password’ options.
